Ohrid's secrets
Most people that come to Ohrid, do excursions outside of Ohrid, often forgetting the many remarkable places the city itself has to offer. During this excursion we will explore Ohrid and you will learn all about its secrets and interesting places.
Do you know how antique paper is being made? Did you know that Orthodox Christianity and the Slavic language started in Ohrid and spread from there to Russia and Eastern Europe? Have you noticed the many shops selling pearls in Ohrid and are you wondering where they come from? After this excursion, you will know everything.
The Jerusalem of the Balkans
Birthplace to Orthodox Christianity, Ohrid once was home to 365 churches. Many of those still remain, but not all are equally interesting. We have selected the most intriguing church as part of this excursion and we will pass along many others. You will learn about the history of religion in Ohrid and will get to know how people practice it at present.
Ohrid old city
We will walk through the old city, finding out a lot about its history and about the different eras the buildings represent. The university, the Roman theatre, Samuel’s fortress are all included in our tour. Then we visit a workshop where paper is still being produced the old-fashioned way and that possesses a replica of Europe’s first printing press. We will also have a look in a woodcarving workshop.
We will end our tour with a nice Macedonian dinner in a restaurant.
