If you’re visiting with kids, you should prepare a solid plan because, from my experience, kids don’t like crowds.
Traveling with kids is hard. Your phone won’t help. They’re in a new country, and that’s exciting for them…
For you and your partner to have a trip that you’ll remember in Macedonia, you need to organize it. If you don’t, you’ll be stressed while you’re here…
That’s why today, I’ll provide you with 5 family-friendly activities you can do to have an amazing time with your partner and kids in Ohrid.
It has the stunning Lake Ohrid, ancient ruins….
Ohrid has plenty of fun stuff for kids.
This is the first thing that pops into my mind when I think about what to do with kids in Ohrid…
Walk downhill to the waterfront, and you’ll find an awesome playground for the kids.
📍 Next to the playground:
There’s a man renting motorized mini cars for just $1 for 5 minutes.
They will love it!
There are plenty of cafés along the shore. Go enjoy a coffee with your partner while watching a beautiful view.
If there is one thing you must see on this trip, it’s the Orthodox Church of St. Jovan Kaneo.
This church is one of the most photographed churches in the world.
📍 Why?
It sits on a cliff, overlooking the lake.
Go get the best photo with the lake in the background.
This is the perfect place to take a moment and appreciate the natural beauty of Lake Ohrid.
You’ll be walking alongside a cliff, surrounded by crystal-clear water.
Hold your kids’ hands tight.
Because… kids you know.
They might try to jump into the water.
That will be a fun story to tell though.
Although it’s no longer the stronghold it once was, Samuel’s Fortress is still worth a visit. The entrance fee is 120 MKD (€2).
Samuel’s Fortress offers a stunning panoramic view of Lake Ohrid and the city. You don’t want to miss it, your kids will be excited to visit a real castle.
St Clement Church on Plaosnik was the First Slovenian University founded here. Here, on Mount Plaošnik, overlooking Lake Ohrid, Saint Clement taught his students the Cyrillic alphabet.
Your kids and partner will enjoy the view a lot.
This ancient theater was built before the new era and was only fully uncovered in the 1990s.
Visitors can now admire it anytime for free.
There’s a good restaurant next to it called Gladiator Restaurant – I suggest having a break for lunch there.
